From my earliest childhood growing up in Louisiana, I have been drawing and sketching the world around me. When I retired from a career in higher education, I began to study the techniques of oil painting and pastels. I have studied in workshops and classes given by inspiring teachers who were generous in sharing their gifts. My artwork has proven to be a satisfying outlet for self-expression and the basis for forming many valued friendships. Most of all, it has helped me appreciate the gift of creativity with which we are all endowed.
I have mainly focused on oil painting, although I occasionally work in pastel as well. I enjoy painting with both brushes and painting knives, always hoping to achieve bold, painterly effects as I paint a variety of subjects, from landscapes to people to wildlife to still lifes. My works can be seen at Gallery 123 in Norman, OK.
